Tips to Improve a Healthy Weight Loss Diet Regime   by Cory Sheppard

Choosing a healthy weight loss diet plan is important if you wish to not only lose fat but keep it off as well. Although many people opt for crash dieting, embarking on a crash diet plan is actually unproductive in the long-term. It slows your metabolism and many people who crash diet end up gaining a lot more weight compared to what they had lost while on the diet program.

A balanced weight loss diet plan is one that contains a lot of fruits and vegetables. In fact, such a diet should contain 60% fruits and vegetables. To make it less difficult on yourself, select fruits and vegetables that you simply prefer to eat. The ideal is that you eat the vegetables raw, steamed or baked. There are a lot of recipes online that are not only low fat but tasty as well.

Picking zero fat proteins is likewise important. Fish is particularly low in fat and is extremely healthy for you. Unfortunately, some fish are high in mercury; nevertheless, sardines, mackerel, anchovies, butterfish and flounder are all low in mercury, just like clams, crawfish, oysters and shrimp. Fish is particularly healthy for you, more so than other sea foods. Chicken is yet another healthy meat that is low in fat.

You want to reduce the amount of carbohydrates you eat, but you should not cut these out of your diet totally. Carbs provide energy for the body and are essential to good health. Move over to healthy carbohydrates such as potatoes (baked, boiled or mashed), brown rice and brown bread. Noodles are also not particularly fattening. Eliminate white bread and white rice from your diet plan, as not only are these fattening but they are also unhealthy.

Likewise you have to watch what you are drinking. Completely eliminate sodas from your diet plan, even the ones which are zero fat. Drink only minimal amounts of alcohol, as alcohol based drinks are also full of calories. Drink lots of water – in fact, doctors recommend that you drink at least eight cups of water a day. You could want to drink as much as ten or even twelve cups a day, as water helps to wash out your body from harmful toxins, helps you slim down and may also help to subdue your hunger when you are enticed with an unhealthy food.

Other drinks that are good for when you are dieting are low fat or no fat milk, 100% fruit juice, or perhaps a self made fruit smoothie.

Taking in the right foods and spending some time to exercise on an every day basis will help you to lose weight and keep it off. You might not lose weight overnight, but you’ll continuously lose weight. If you keep consuming a healthy fat loss diet, the weight will stay off for good.
